Ever since I was a little kid I’ve always wanted to be on the color guard. I was fascinated with the beautiful flags and just the whole concept of it. So when I got to high school I tried out for it and got in. Color guard is a much more complex art than people think it is. When you’re spinning you think about several different things at the same time.
One sunny day during practice I was feeling a bit nauseous and wasn’t feeling very good at all. But I said to myself “you have to push through right now”. Then my coach comes to us and says “we can this new choreography, please learn from Stacia ASAP” and this choreography had one of the hardest flag toss ever.
My friends and I tried it together and then one second I’m releasing the toss and I can’t see much because its so sunny and then the next second I feel this huge thing hit me on my forehead. I couldn’t process the whole situation and fell to the ground. This was one of those moments where you don’t really know to do.
